Star Medical Telephone/Media Policy

Telephone/Media Policy

Telephone calls and electronic communications
Our practice reception may contact you via telephone calls, text messages, and/or email to confirm or notify you of any changes to your scheduled appointment.

We offer telephone consultations for existing patients; however, not all medical services can be provided over the phone. The GP may request that you attend a face-to-face appointment if they feel that the service is difficult to perform over the phone. New patients are required to attend a face-to-face initial consultation before we can offer telehealth appointments to them. Telehealth appointments are generally booked towards the end of a doctor’s session.

Our practice reception will only email test results/reports when asked by the patient. Patients will be required to give written consent to receive their reports electronically via email. Referrals, reports, and medical certificates will either be given as a paper copy or emailed to the email provided directly by the patient.

Star Medical would never ask for a patient’s credit card details over email; only verbal confirmation through phone is required on the occasion that the patient is not a Medicare cardholder and is required to pay a consultation fee for telehealth appointments. The practice will not transmit any information that would enable an individual patient to be uniquely identified and will not provide any patient’s private information to third parties without consent.

Telephone calls from patients will not generally be put through to doctors immediately as they are usually attending to patients throughout the day. Our reception staff will either hand the information to the doctor or book the patient for a telehealth appointment with the doctor at the next available time, depending on the inquiry.

For any urgent medical problems, we recommend you attend your nearest hospital; alternatively, we will arrange for our doctors to see you as soon as possible.

Media
Star Medical’s Instagram/WeChat pages are primarily used for promotions and patient communications. No patient-sensitive information, such as medical reports, will be sent to patients via social media.

Occasionally, we may post real results of surgical or cosmetic recoveries and improvements, but only with patient consent. While patients’ faces are rarely shown in these posts, we will disclose all information regarding the post in advance to the patient.

Star Medical would never ask for a patient’s credit card details via Instagram or WeChat.
