What is Corporate/Occupational Health?

Corporate/occupational health is a section of healthcare that covers work-related injuries, pre-employment health check-ups, workplace testing, vaccinations and reintegration into the workplace after injury. PRE-EMPLOYMENT HEALTH CHECK-UP

Before being hired by a company, some companies will require or request medical examinations on behalf of their soon to be employee. These check-ups will evaluate your suitability for the requirements of your role. Back to work check-ups

After an injury or absence from work, employees may need an evaluation of their suitability to return to work. We will evaluate your suitability to return to your previous job and that you can perform it effectively. The check-ups can determine if you are performing or are able to perform your job safely. We will determine whether your company will need to create a return to work plan for your return to your job. Patients may need to perform light duties before settling into the full abilities of their job. Back to work check-ups will evaluate your fitness for duty after a non-work-related injury. Here at Star Medical we will offer information and guidance for employees and employers as to how to handle a return to work after injury.

Workcover and injuries

Our corporate health services aim to support you when an injury occurs at work. When accidents happen at work, injuries can occur leaving you unfit to perform some or all of your current duties. Workplace injuries that can occur include cuts, fractures, sprains, strains, broken bones, hearing issues, vision problems, breathing related illness and repetitive motion disorders. Work injuries can not only be physical injuries but also psychological disorders, illness and diseases that can occur at work, on your break, or travelling to or from work. Our qualified team will not only help you recover from your injury but will support you in your return to work or recovery journey. If an employee is injured at work, the business and employee must both alert Workcover as the employee can make a Workcover claim. Before making a claim, employees must report the injury to their manager. You must then make an appointment with your doctor after this to evaluate your injury and provide paperwork for Workcover. We can assign you a work capacity certificate which you will need to help substantiate your Workcover claim. Workcover aims to help an employee return back to work. Workcover is compensation for the treatment costs incurred by your injuries.
